Over the last two years, I’ve fallen hard for Asian Ball Jointed Dolls. For a quick intro on what these are, please see this post: (wait, where is it? oh noes! okay, come back later, I’ll have to write a new one).

I wanted to introduce my doll “family” and give a photo of each one, seeing as how I allude to them so frequently. Most of them represent my original characters, who have extensive back stories and are involved in the plot of the novel I’m slowly working on. Some of them, mostly the pukis, aren’t novel characters. This page is a work in progress and will be updated as I get time.

Hazel

Info: Hazel is a serious little sprite with a grumpy attitude. Maple is her sister. She likes vegetables, books, and witty banter.

Ayrisene “Ayris” Weinbeck

Sculpt: Blue Fairy Tiny Fairy Sarang

Age: 17
Info: Ayris suffers from a severe case of social anxiety disorder and was orphaned by a car crash at a very young age. Her father was a colleague of a renowned researcher, who took her in after the accident. She does the cooking and cleaning for him, and is quite good at it by now. Her only other skill is designing and sewing clothes. Her personality is shy, agreeable, meek, gentle, and naive. Her sister and the professor are trying to get her to open up more.

Info: Arguably the most well adjusted of the sprites, Holly is outgoing, laid back, and friendly. However, she is very clumsy and often hurts herself by falling.

Kail

Info: Kail belongs to a race of humanoids with animal-like traits. She and her half brother, Kane, are cat like. Kail is much more human looking than Kane, being half human herself, so he is desperately trying to teach her to get by as a human. His kind are discriminated against, and he wants better for her. She is bossy, confident, and adventurous, possibly due to Kane doting on her so.

Li-Ming “Lym”

Info: Lym’s mother was extremely poor and knew that she would not be able to care for her child, so she prayed to a goddess for aid while she was pregnant. She traded Lym’s actual sight for the Sight, which would allow her to see the future as a source of income. Sadly, when Lym was born she was immediately seized by followers of the goddess and forced to be a priestess/prophet at the goddess’ temple. Lym was left blind, bitter, distrustful, and sarcastic.

Info: Nora was born into a family whose blood flows with intense magical power. Their role is to protect the tribe in exchange for this god-given strength. Nora is an only child, and singlehandedly provides for her village’s security. She is able to take on a small army by herself.
She is a loner and rarely speaks. She believes that actions speak louder than words and often helps her people with their chores and emergencies, but if she is not needed, she avoids human contact. She is inordinately fond of drinking and is unable to express herself well.

Info: Some day Moya and Vincent have children, and one of them is Binya. Although she looks like her mother, her expressions are virtually identical to those of her father. She is more like him than her mom. Even at a young age she displays signs of being quiet, intelligent, serious, and level headed.

Info: Willow is a sprite with a split personality. One of them is brain meltingly cutesy, while the other is macabre. She has been known to bake cookies and then raise a dead sprite as a zombie servant all in the same afternoon.

Info: Shortly after he was chosen as the next King, Glenndon encountered an 11-year-old Arlet. She successfully overwhelmed his four guards, who were in the process of leading the king’s carriage through her family’s meager field of crops. Glenndon saw her potential as a guard, and also felt bad for destroying her family’s food source, so he took her back to the castle and she was trained to protect him. Her lavish salary saved her family from poverty, and in her gratitude she grew entirely devoted to him in her years of service. This devotion overwhelmed her existence and her personality, replacing everything with the goal of keeping him safe.
